The EIVA announced its first weekly awards of the 2020 season on Jan. 6, with Princeton's George Mason named Offensive Player of the Week and George Mason's Jack Reese named Defensive Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week
George Huhmann, Sr. MB/Opp., Princeton
George picked up where he left off last season with a pair of solid performances in the Tigers’ opening West Coast road trip. The 2019 EIVA Uvaldo Acosta Memorial Player of the Year totaled 29 kills on .281 hitting, adding six aces, six digs and five blocks in a pair of losses. In a five-set loss to No. 12 Southern California on Jan. 2, Huhmann put down 23 kills on .318 hitting, with three aces and a pair of blocks. On Dec. 29, the senior had six kills, three aces and three blocks in a 3-0 loss to No. 8 UC-Irvine. This is his ninth EIVA weekly award of his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Reese, RS-Jr., MB, George Mason
Jack led a stout Patriots defense in a 3-0 loss to No. 2 UCLA on Jan. 4. Reese had a match-high six blocks as George Mason out-blocked the Bruins 8-5 and held UCLA to .299 hitting. Reese also had six kills while hitting .364 and picked up a pair of digs. This is the fourth career EIVA weekly award for the redshirt junior.
