George Mason's Hayden Wagner and Jack Reese earned weekly honors from the EIVA on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019. Wagner is the Offensive Player of the Week and Reese is the Defensive Player of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Hayden Wagner, Jr., Opp., George Mason
Hayden is the EIVA’s top offensive performer for the second straight week in leading the Patriots to a pair of weekend wins. During a 3-1 win at No. 11 Ohio State on Friday, he had 17 kills on .303 hitting. The next night during a 3-1 victory at Charleston (W.V.) to open the EIVA conference schedule, he had 19 kills on a career-high .600 hitting. His week saw totals of 36 kills, seven blocks, four digs and one ace, and he averaged 5.125 points and 4.50 kills per set. Wagner’s 99 kills and 4.50 kills-per-set average leads the EIVA. This is Wagner’s second EIVA weekly award of the season.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jack Reese, RS-So., MB, George Mason
Jack also had big roles in the Patriots’ two matches last weekend. He totaled 15 kills and 11 blocks in the contests, adding four digs. He had a match-high six blocks plus five kills against the Mastadons on Friday. On Saturday, he put down 10 kills on .429 hitting with five blocks. This is Jack’s first EIVA weekly award of the season and second of his career.
