EIVA Championship Field Set; George Mason to Host

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Championship field is set with George Mason University claiming the top seed and will serve as the host of the semi-finals and finals in Fairfax, Va.

For 19 years straight, the EIVA Championships took place at Penn State’s Recreation Hall between 1999 and 2017. Rutgers-Newark, in 1998, was the last institution other than Penn State to host the EIVA Championships. The last time the Patriots hosted the EIVA Championship was in 1994.

Penn State and Harvard both finished the regular season with a conference record of 10-4, but the Nittany Lions will be the second seed based on a tiebreaker procedure of head-to-head sets won between the two teams. Penn State captured five sets over the Crimson in the season series while Harvard only won three sets.

Rounding out the field is Princeton as the fourth seed who ended 7-3 in their final 10 conference matches. The Tigers swept the Nittany Lions in their season series which included a 3-0 win at Penn State, Princeton’s first-ever road victory against the Nittany Lions in program history.
