George Mason Community Mourns Loss of Patrick Sibley
FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason community is mourning the loss of rising senior Patrick Sibley, a member of the men’s volleyball team, after he died tragically on the morning of Sunday, August 18th in a Metro train-related accident. George Mason Athletics is extending its deepest condolences to the family, friends and teammates of Patrick.

2013 EIVA Hall of Fame Inductee: Wayne Stalick
Although Wayne Stalick is still the winningest head coach in the history of the Patriot men’s volleyball program and is credited its founding, he arrived at George Mason in 1972 in an academic role as a chemistry professor. In 1973 he was asked to be the faculty advisor to the club volleyball program, and just one year later he was charged with putting together a competitive men’s volleyball program.

2013 EIVA Hall of Fame Inductee: Glenn Nelson
Princeton has been one of the cornerstones of volleyball in the East for more than 30 years, and Glenn Nelson is one name synonymous with the Tiger program. A successful coach for both the men’s and women’s programs, Nelson collected more than 1,100 wins across both platforms. But perhaps more notable that what he did was how he did it. Nelson, known for his unique coaching style and his personality off the court, built a significant alumni base fueled by his character and that of Princeton volleyball.

Described as “a once in a lifetime player” for his impact on his team, his program and volleyball in the east, it is fitting that Ivan Contreras will be joining the 2013 EIVA Hall of Fame class during the EIVA Championship at Penn State. A Nittany Lion from 1994-97, his name and his legacy are still scattered throughout the record book and the impact that his presence had can still be felt, even after 16 years.

Pioneers Fall in Five to IPFW
Fairfield, Conn. - The Sacred Heart Men’s Volleyball Team outplayed IPFW in many ways, outkilling them 55-53, outdigging ten 39-35, and recording six service aces to their five, but the Mastodons still got the best of the Pioneers winning three sets to two. Brad Borsay (Richmond, R.I.) smashed a match-leading 16 kills, hitting 56.0%, on 25 attempts with just two errors. Freshman Raymon Satagaj (Rocky Hill, Conn.) hit 50.0% tonight; recording 10 kills on 16 attempts with two errors. SHU is still looking for their first win of the season as the loss drops the to 0-2 on the year.
