Anderson and Holt Named to USA FIVB
World Championship Roster
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., Sept. 18, 2010 –
Former Penn State men’s volleyball players Matt
Anderson and Max Holt were both named to
the 14-man roster that will compete at the FIVB Men’s World
Volleyball Championships Sept. 25-Oct. 10 in Italy.
Anderson joins three veteran outside hitters on this year’s
team. He has played in the last two World League campaigns for the
U.S. Anderson played in 31 sets in the 2010 World League and
tallied 83 kills (2.68 kills per set) and was third on the team
with 3.06 points per set.
Holt is one of three middle blockers on this year’s roster.
He made is debut with the U.S. men at the 2010 World League playing
in 19 sets. He totaled 10 kills, two blocks and two aces.
The U.S. men begin World Championship competition with the first
round of pool play in Reggio Calabria, Italy on Sept. 25 against
Mexico before taking on Venezuela on Sept. 26 and Argentina on
Sept. 27.
Anderson helped Penn State to a 2008
National Championship before by-passing his senior year to play
professionally in Seoul, South Korea for the Hyuandi Capital
Skywalkers of the Korean Volleyball League. Holt was also a member
of the 2008 National Championship team and was named the EIVA
Player of the Year in 2009.
