George Mason Falls on the Road at No. 13 Ohio
State, 3-0
Patriots' record drops to 1-1 on the season
COLUMBUS, Ohio (January 28, 2010) - George Mason played competitive
volleyball throughout but was unable to overcome No. 13 Ohio State,
falling in three sets to the Buckeyes on Thursday evening at St.
John Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Set scores were 30-24, 33-31 and
31-29 in favor of Ohio State.
With the loss, the Patriots' record drops to 1-1 on the season.
Mason won its season opener in straight sets against Lees-McRae on
Jan. 23 in the Patriots' first match at the RAC. The Buckeyes
improved to 5-4 on the season with the win.
For the second consecutive match, junior outside hitter Eric Lucas
led the Patriots in kills with a total of 16. Freshman Javier Perez
led Mason with 39 assists.
John Klanac (12) and Shawn Sangrey (10) both reached double digits
in kills for Ohio State. Steven Kehoe recorded a match-high 41
assists. Mik Berzins led all players with 10 digs.
