Harvard Returns to Winning Ways with 3-0 Defeat of East
Stroudsburg
EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. - The Crimson gained its first road
win and got a measure
of revenge as the Harvard men's volleyball team defeated East
Stroudsburg, 3-0,
Saturday afternoon at the Koehler Fieldhouse. Harvard grabbed the
first two set
by 30-26 scores, then captured the match with a 30-23 win in the
third set.
Harvard improved to 7-6 overall, 3-1 in the Hay Division with the
win and won
its fourth match in the past five, while East Stroudsburg fell to
6-5.
Senior Brady Weissbourd posted 19 kills and just two errors on 29
attacks for a
.586 hitting percentage to lead the Crimson. Junior Erik Kuld
slammed down 12
kills with four service aces, while freshman Dan Schreff had a
team-high eight
digs. Junior Gil Weintraub handed out 36 assists and posted a
team-high four
blocks as Harvard defeated the Warriors exactly one month after the
team lost a
non-conference tilt with the Warriors, 3-0, back on Feb. 14. Jon
Daley led the
Warriors with 16 kills.
Harvard attacked at a .280 clip with 11 kills and limited the
Warriors to a .150
attack percentage in taking the first set, 30-26. Harvard players
combined to
post 14 kills on a .310 attack percentage compared to ESU's .212
clip as the
Crimson won the second set by the same, 30-26 score. The team's
offense then
caught fire in the third set, knocking down 17 kills with only one
error for a
.571 attack percentage, while limited the Warriors to a .188
hitting clip in
winning, 30-23. Harvard hit .390 for the entire match, compared to
.181 for the
Warriors.
