Gramit hits .548 in the win
NEWARK, N.J. (February 21, 2009) - No. 14 George Mason bounced back
from a midweek loss to Juniata College with a 3-0 win over the New
Jersey Institute of Technology in EIVA Tait Division men's
volleyball action on Saturday afternoon at the Estelle and Zoom
Fleisher Athletic Center in Newark, N.J. With the win, the Patriots
improve to 6-3 overall and 2-1 in EIVA Tait Division matches.
Mason took the three sets by final scores of 30-25, 30-25 and 30-17
to drop NJIT's record to 3-6 overall and 0-5 in EIVA Tait Division
matches. The Patriots never trailed in the opening set and fell
behind only four times during the entire match.
George Mason outhit NJIT .330 to .129 in the win. Senior opposite
hitter Kyle Gramit led the way with 19 kills, hitting .548 on 31
swings. Senior Brandon McLaughlin chipped in six kills on .625
hitting. Junior setter Ryan Kwiatkowski totaled 33 assists to lead
all players.
Charles Bell led the Highlanders with 15 kills and six digs.
Rodrigo Correa dished out 29 assists in a losing effort.
