Mechanicsburg, Pa. native one of the top high school
players in the state of Pennsylvania
FAIRFAX, Va. (December 3, 2007) - The George Mason University
Athletics Department, along with men's volleyball head coach, Fred
Chao, announced today the signing of Andrew Dentler to a National
Letter of Intent. Dentler will enroll at George Mason in the fall
of 2008 and will be an immediate contributor to the team at the
outside hitter position.
"Andrew has the makings of a very good volleyball player," Chao
said. "He has a high level of talent and will develop very quickly
in our program. Andrew has a natural passing ability and will
contribute very early in his career here at Mason."
Dentler attended Cumberland Valley High School in Mechanicsburg,
Pa., where he has earned numerous accolades for his strong play as
a team captain of the Eagles. He was named one of the Pennsylvania
Interscholastic Athletic Association's (PIAA) Finest 40 Players, a
two-time Mid-Penn Conference MVP and a First-Team District Three
All-Star.
Dentler chose to attend George Mason over Eastern Intercollegiate
Volleyball Association (EIVA) rivals Juniata and Penn State. He
plans to major in business at Mason.
The George Mason men's volleyball team begins its 2008 season on
Tuesday, Jan. 15 with a 7:30 p.m. match at the Fieldhouse against
