Tait Named All-Time Great Coach By USA Volleyball
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., May 25, 2007 - G. Thomas (Tom) Tait, the founding father of both the Penn State men's and women's volleyball programs, was honored as an All-Time Great Coach in the Pioneer Division by USA Volleyball at the USAV Boyce Awards banquet in Austin on May 24.

Anderson Earns Second Team AVCA All-America Honors
Penn State sophomore mens volleyball student-athlete Matt Anderson (West Seneca, N.Y.) has been named a Second Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), officials announced today. The AVCA All-America awards will be presented at the NCAA National Collegiate Mens Volleyball Championship Banquet on the campus of Ohio State on Wednesday, May. 2.

Springfield Prepares for Molten Div III Invitational Championship
The Springfield College mens volleyball team, under the direction of nine-year Head Coach Charlie Sullivan, has played its way into this seasons Molten Division III Invitational Championship. The four-team championship, hosted by three-time defending champion Juniata College, will be held at Memorial Gymnasium in the Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center in Huntingdon, Pa., on Friday and Saturday, April 13th and 14th.

MVP Matt Werle (Meadville, PA/Meadville HS) posted 42 assists as he quarterbacked Juniata to a 3-0 win over host Rutgers-Newark in The Golden Dome Classic, and New Jersey Institute of Technology registered a 3-1 upset of George Mason Sunday as a winter storm arrived in the city.

Powell Named AVCA Team
Redshirt senior opposite hitter Shaun Powell added another award to his lengthy list of honors this season when the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced today its 16th annual AVCA All-America awards for mens volleyball. Powell was selected a Division I-II First-Team All-American for a senior campaign in which he finished fourth nationally in kills per game and points per game, and 14th in aces per game. He becomes the 10th Mason athlete to garner All-American honors and the first since Mike Mauro in 1994.
