Springfield Season Outlook
The 2008 season ended with the Pride winning its fifth national
championship in front of its home crowd. The team is poised to
defend its crown in the 2009 campaign.
Leading the charge for the Pride will be last season's AVCA
Division III Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-American
selection, Cal Palumbo. Palumbo burst on to the
volleyball scene as he finished with 227 kills, hitting .422 for
the season, to go along with 103 blocks.
Junior outside hitter A.J. Nally will look to
build on another impressive year as he led the team with 307 kills,
204 digs, and 31 aces last season. Directing the Pride's
attack will be last year's Most Outstanding Player of the Molten
Championships, Eric Shoemaker, who dished out just
over 11 assists per game.
Also looking to make contributions will be senior Mark
Ribeiro and junior Bill Yates
